Download FAQ

How do I install it?

Download the .dmg, drag CB Notes to Applications, and open it. On first launch you set a passphrase that encrypts everything. (The app installs under the short name “CB Notes.”)

I see an “unidentified developer” warning on macOS.

On recent macOS (Sequoia), open System Settings → Privacy & Security, find the note about CB Notes, and click “Open Anyway,” then confirm. (On older macOS, right-click the app and choose “Open.”) The warning appears for newly released, not-yet-notarized builds and does not indicate a problem.

Why does it install as “CB Notes”?

On purpose. Client Builder Pro Notes installs under the short, discreet name “CB Notes,” so nothing on your taskbar, Start menu, or window title tells your staff you keep separate records. It’s the same app — just a low-profile name.

Is my data stored in the cloud?

No. All employee records are stored only on your computer, encrypted with AES-256. They are never sent to external servers.

Do I need an internet connection?

Only for license checks and updates. Your employee records are never transmitted.

How do I start for free?

Click “Start free” — the Free plan gives you up to 10 entries a month with no credit card and no signup.

What if I lose my passphrase?

Your passphrase is never stored or sent to us. If it’s lost, your encrypted data cannot be recovered — so keep it somewhere safe.

How do backups work?

Automatic periodic backups run in the background, and you can also export a manual encrypted backup to move to another computer.
